Quotes can inspire, engage, frighten, impress, plead, and change an outlook possessed by the reader. The explosion of inspirational posters, Internet sites dedicated to specific categories of quotes, and books written solely consisting of quotes and usually beautiful images show that I am not the only one who thinks this. Below are some of my more beloved quotes, and some are quotes that over the years I ended up paraphrasing into something that meant a bit more to me than the original quote. Either way, I hope they inspire you as well!

Honor and shame from no condition rise,

Act well your part. There all the honor lies.

~Alexander Pope

To be completely honest with the above quotation, I ended up changing it. I'm not even sure when that happened. I read a poem called Mrs. Georgia Reese by Edgard Lee Masters in his Spoonful Anthology in 10th grade and this quote was at the end of the poem. I loved it so much that I memorized it and have tried to live by this particular quote.

However, I recently went back to the book and realized that I had changed the quote a little bit. Honestly, I prefer what I have now. To each his own.
